FLIGHTS & LANDINGS is a Canadian Art magazine Must-See Show!
With three amazing site-specific installations in the large stairwells at Artscape Youngplace, plus a selection of smaller works by artists Tamara Gayer, Christine Gedeon, and Janine Miedzik in the third-floor project space (#302), FLIGHTS & LANDINGS has something for everyone. Visitors have been sharing their pictures all over the interwebs and we’ll be posting more pics soon — but truly, these works are meant to be experienced in person. The project space portion is open for just a few more weekends (stairwells to remain on view beyond exhibition close on April 19th). Don’t miss it!

Upcoming: MAKE YOUR MARK! Collaborative Community Wall Art Project
Everyone’s invited to join us on Thursday, April 16th (two weeks from today) in creating a massive collaborative wall-based artwork with local artists Melissa Fisher and Murat Saman. Inspired by our current exhibition, this free, family-friendly event is a great way to experience and engage with the exciting installations, drawings, and sculptures on view.
See how Gayer, Gedeon, and Miedzik’s lifelong fascinations with cities, maps, and the materials of commerce and construction have been translated into the dynamic and idiosyncratic lines, patterns, and planes of pure colour that make up their striking artworks. Then make your own mark using colourful self-adhesive vinyls and tapes on the expansive walls of Artscape Youngplace’s 3rd floor hallway, where the resulting collaborative composition will remain on view throughout the weekend for all visitors to enjoy. A fun, active, and creative event perfect for all ages; materials will be provided. Bring your friends — we’ve got a lot of wall to cover!
This event is part of RECESS at Artscape Youngplace, Thursday, April 16th from 4:30–10 pm. Drop-in for the collaborative art project any time from 4:30–8 pm; check in at TYPOLOGY (#302) to receive exhibit info and art-making materials. Other activities in the building will include live music, dance, artist-led workshops, and a delicious community dinner. We look forward to seeing you there!
