Project space update: So much to celebrate and anticipate!

As 2014 winds down, we are both reflecting on what a fantastic first year TYPOLOGY has had in its home at Artscape Youngplace, and anticipating the exciting exhibitions and initiatives we’ve got planned for 2015. But before we get to our updates and invites, we’d first like to thank every one of our subscribers and followers for your continued interest, participation, and support. As the project space learns and grows, there’s much for our audiences to look forward to, including better and more streamlined communications, online shopping and submissions, and other opportunities to participate from near and far. Thanks for staying with us!

To show our appreciation for your continued support, anyone who is signed up for our mailing list or following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tumblr, or Pinterest will receive 10% off the purchase of any artwork, publications, editions, merchandise, and custom archival gallery framing. Shown above are some of the great gifts we have for the art lover in your life, currently displayed in one of Artscape Youngplace’s first floor vitrines. Contact us at info (at) typology (dot) ca for information on all this and more, and stay tuned for the launch of our online shop, coming soon.

This week is your last chance to see Elemental | Book Works by Cathryn Miller. The show has gotten a great response from visitors, who have enjoyed puzzling over Miller’s wall-based composition, Synesthesia, and submitting wishes in support of her labyrinthine public art project. TYPOLOGY will have slightly revised hours this week to coincide with AYP Hallway Galleries opening on Friday — instead of our usual Thursday evening hours we’ll be open extended hours on Friday, from 12–8 pm. Sunday, December 14 from 12–5 pm will be the final day of the exhibition.

Unable to attend? Never fear! The exhibition is documented in a lovely catalogue which you can preview here and purchase for $20 plus shipping by emailing info (at) typology (dot) ca (let us know if you are a subscriber to receive your 10% discount!).

Join us for a hands-on holiday party, co-hosted with the good people from Graven Feather and Paperhouse Studio, on Friday, December 19th from 6:00 on! There will be food, libations, and demonstrations including ornament-making by Paperhouse, gift tag printing by Graven Feather, and holiday star-making inspired by Cathryn Miller’s altered book work exhibition by TYPOLOGY. The party is at Paperhouse Studio, #102 on the first floor at Artscape Youngplace. All are welcome!

We are thrilled to announce the official launch of our guest curating program — a key component of TYPOLOGY’s mandate — with A Riveder le Stelle, curated by Heather Nicol. This wonderful two-person exhibition will feature works on paper by the late New York painter Mary Hambleton and a video installation by Toronto-based artist Sara MacLean. Join us for the opening reception with MacLean and Nicol on Thursday, January 22nd from 6–8 pm (same night as Koffler Gallery’s opening for Kristiina Lahde). Refreshments will be served and all are welcome! Stay tuned for more information an exhibition-related events and editions.

That’s the news for now. Happy holidays to all!
